We offer English courses for children from 6 years old. For the youngest ones, learning is purely play-based – without writing, focusing on listening and speaking.
How do I find out which group my child belongs to?
If the child is not a complete beginner, we will place them based on an initial placement test. Teenagers can complete it online. For children in years 1–5, we send tests upon request. Groups are divided by age as well as actual knowledge – not just by school year.
How many children are in one group?
In-person courses have a maximum of 10 children per group, whilst Live Online courses have a maximum of 8 children. This ensures every child gets the opportunity for conversation, asking questions, and receiving individual feedback from the teacher.
Where in Bratislava do the courses take place?
Courses are held at IH Bratislava premises in the city centre on Moskovská 13 and Námestie SNP 14. Start Right courses take place directly at partner primary schools throughout Bratislava and the surrounding area.
Is the course suitable for a complete beginner?
Yes. We offer courses from A0 (complete beginner) up to C1 level. A child can start from scratch and progress at their own pace in the appropriate group.
What is the difference between Start Right at a primary school and a course directly at IH Bratislava?
Start Right takes place directly at your child's primary school – with no need to travel, in an environment the child knows. Courses at IH Bratislava take place at our language school in the city centre or Live Online, and are also suitable for children whose school is not a partner school. Both types of courses feature equally qualified teachers and the same emphasis on results.
Are there also English courses available for teenagers?
Yes. Courses for teenagers aged 11–17 run twice a week. In summer, we also offer summer English courses for teenagers with native speakers and a focus on conversation.
