TKT course

The TKT Preparatory Course is aimed at preparing candidates for the TKT exam, but also offers a whole range of practical teaching activities and ideas for the classroom. Seminars are lead by experienced teacher trainers and give participants a strong foundation in the core areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom.

Who is the course for?
teachers of Primary, Secondary or Adult learners
both experienced and novice teachers, for teachers in work or pre-service
The course and exam are suitable for native speakers and non-native speakers who have a level of English equivalent to PET or level B1 of the Council of Europe's language framework.

TKT Preparatory Course Content:
The course is of a very practical nature, illustrated with examples from current course materials, and participants will be regularly encouraged to reflect on their own teaching and try out techniques for themselves in the contexts they currently work in.

Areas covered include:

  • A general background to language learning
  • The presentation and practice of new language
  • How to develop the skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening
  • How to teach pronunciation, grammar and lexis
  • The role of error
  • Classroom management
  • Practice activities
  • Lesson and course planning, selection and use of coursebook and supplementary materials
  • Giving feedback and assessing progress
  • A full practice test TKT is taken on completion of the course.

Monday to Friday 9:30 - 15:30 (30 hours)
